Harbor Freight ICON Brand Wrenches Tested as Equivalent to SNAP ON Brand at 20 pct Cost
Embarassing. Company-destroying.
So, Icon vs SnapOn appears to be 10% less performance for 80% less cost. Craftsman is second-place always a consistent winner.
Harbor-freight ICON brand performs equivalently (within 10%) to Snap-On brand but costs 1/5th the price.
Even worse when a saleswoman, spokesperson makes unsubstantiated claim that ‘un-recycled steel outperforms recycled steel’. “You may not know this but the Snap-On steel has been the same forever…this steel is only used once.” https://www.youtube.com/shorts/UYmuYyAK9V4
SK was made in America up to 3 yrs ago . Wright tools is 100% American made for over 100 yrs. Same as snap on. Mac tools is still 50% American made. Mayhew, trusty crook, woodpecker, and lots of others are still American made.
SK and Wright aren’t great. Old school ratchets with low tooth counts and big thick sockets that are better suited for industrial use. Same with their wrenches. Mayhew punches are extremely soft and kinda cheap. Trust cook’s hammers are ok, but they’re far behind Snap-On.
HONESTLY as a man that has worked on cars basically since I was 6 almost 40 years old now I have to say I broke every wrench or socket brand out there and I will NEVER waste money on SNAP-ON period the only snap-on shit I own is tools I bought at garage sales etc. or hand me downs etc.
Note Craftsman wrenches in second-place!
